When should I schedule my newborn session?
The best time to have a newborn session is when your baby is between 3 -14 days old. It is best to book your session shortly after you have had your 20 week scan. This will be a provisional booking and will be flexible around your baby’s birth as babies often arrive earlier or later than planned. If however you haven’t booked baby in at around 20 weeks please do not hesitate to contact us and we will try to accommodate you, as we would not want you to miss out on capturing such a special time in your lives.
Does my session need to take place between 3-14 days of age?
Yes, staying within this time frame would be recommended if you are looking for those adorable sleepy poses. This is when your baby is at their smallest, cutest stage and are still curly and very sleepy. Babies also change so much in such a short amount of time and those little fingers and cute toes start to grow. Having said that, we have photographed many newborns older than this and we are still are able to capture beautiful images. Just know that the cute sleepy curled up shots are often much more difficult to achieve as babies get past 14 days old.
How much do newborn sessions cost?
Our newborn session fees are £75. This includes studio time and a complimentary 8x10 print of your choice. You will then be invited back to our studio (normally within seven to fourteen days) to view your gallery. Our galleries normally consist of around 30-40 edited images that you can choose from. All prints, digital files and products e.g. canvases, have to be purchased separately. Please contact us for a full price list.
How long will my newborn photography session take?
Newborn photography sessions normally take on average anywhere between two and four hours. Our sessions are totally baby led and so it is very hard to know how long they will take. The studio atmosphere is very relaxed and allows time to meet your baby’s needs such as feeding and changing. We like to think it is like a home from home for your little one and yourselves.
Where will the session take place?
The session takes place at our comfortable studio which is on St Johns Road, Waterloo. Our studio gives you access to all of our props, backdrops and equipment resulting in high quality, bespoke images. Please click HERE for a tour of our cosy studio which consist of 3 large rooms for you to enjoy and relax in. We understand that you have just given birth and might not feel up to leaving home at this early stage, so we try and make the studio as comfortable as possible for you. We work with other local businesses to provide you with all the home comforts you need. For example we have a menu from the vintage tea room next door who are happy to bring your order to you at the studio so you can enjoy anything from a latté to a full English breakfast, while you sit back and enjoy these precious moments.
What happens during a newborn session?
Newborn sessions take place in our studio. We start the session by bringing baby into our very warm, cosy studio where they will be happy to have their clothes removed. We then feed baby so that they will be happy, sleepy and contented and will go into a deep sleep to be photographed (so if possible please try not to feed baby before they arrive). Once baby is sleeping we will start your magical shoot. We take all the curly, squishy poses on the bean bag first, we then move onto prop shots and finally family images.
Is my baby in safe hands?
We pride ourselves in looking after your baby and ensuring they are safe. We are fully trained in the art of newborn posing and photography. Your baby will never be left alone with us or out of your sight. We have both been police checked and hold DBS certificates. The studio is set up with your baby’s safety in mind and we are practiced in posing your precious newborn safely while we take your photographs.
Where do I feed my baby?
We provide a warm, comfortable, quiet environment where you can feed your baby for as long as they need. We welcome breastfed babies and understand that you may be new to breastfeeding and it can sometimes feel uncomfortable to feed in public in the early days. We are happy for you to feed anywhere in our studio but If you feel that you need privacy we have an area where you can sit and feed baby in comfort. Gemma is also a trained breastfeeding support worker so we fully understand any concerns or difficulties you may have about breastfeeding your baby away from home, and she can offer advice and support if you need it.
Do you take pictures of the family as well?
Absolutely, this is included in our session fee and we love it when mum, dad and siblings want to be part of the session. This a special time when you can all be photographed together as a family rather than the person taking the photographs being missed off your family pictures.
Who supplies all the cute hats, headbands and props for the photographs?
We have a large supply of hats, headbands and wraps, etc. that we have available for your photographs. If you have any items you would like included in your pictures such as teddies, blankets and personal items by all means bring them with you. Personal items we have included in newborn photographs have included a guitar, boxing gloves, formula one items, military uniform and various police helmets and football kits, these always make your photographs very personal and special. If there is something you would like to include in your photographs please bring it with you and we will try to accommodate you.
What should we wear for the family pictures?
Choose something that you are comfortable in, either with soft toned solid colours that have a timeless feel about them; or the more modern light and airy look of soft pastel colours. Keep away from bright colours or those with loud prints and patterns. If wearing make-up try to go for the soft natural look as this looks better on camera. Older children look better in soft light cotton fabrics with a timeless feel; cream and brown palettes always work well.

We provide beautiful, natural maternity photography to capture this special moment in your life. Pregnant women have a certain glow that is truly amazing, it is almost like they have an aura of purity. A maternity shoot captures this special moment in expectant mums and dads lives and
you can keep the pictures forever to show your children how excited you were when you were waiting to welcome them into your life.
When should I book my maternity shoot?
We would recommend that you book your shoot soon after you have had your 20 week scan. We will normally take your photographs between 30 and 37 weeks. At this time in your pregnancy you have a nice bump to show off, but if baby decides to come into the world earlier than planned you won’t miss out on such a precious moment. If you would like your shoot at a different stage of your pregnancy we would be happy to accommodate this, please contact us to discuss your needs.
Where would I have my maternity session?
The maternity shoot usually takes place at our studio. The studio allows us access to all of our backdrops and equipment so you can have beautiful photographs in a comfortable environment. If you want something different we also love doing location work for our maternity shoots. In the past we have taken some beautiful photographs in parks, at waterfalls and on beaches and there is something very pure about being photographed in natural, surroundings while pregnant. If there is a place that is meaningful to you and you would like your photographs to be taken there please contact us to discuss this.
What should I wear for my maternity shoot?
There are no rules about what you wear for your shoot. It is most important to feel comfortable in what you choose to wear. Our pregnant ladies have chosen to wear clothes that are tight-fitting around the tummy to show off their bump, button down shirts, maxi dresses and underwear for their shoots.
We also have a range of fabrics and wraps in our studio that you can use to enhance your shoot. These are sheer so we would recommend you come in nude coloured underwear if thinking of using these. Try not to wear busy patterns and stripes as this can detract attention from the tummy. Soft pastel colours, soft creams, and brown palettes work well. All portraits are discreetly and respectfully photographed, and nudity is an option if you are considering it. We pride ourselves on making sure that you always feel comfortable with the poses and shots we capture. When booking for your shoot please talk to us about your thoughts and ideas.
What is the cost?
The cost of our maternity sessions is £45 this includes studio time of around two hours, props and a complementary 10 x 8 print of your choice.
Our bundle offer which includes a maternity and newborn shoot costs just £95 which offers you a saving of £25 on booking the sessions separately. Please contact us for more information.
Can my partner and children join in?
Absolutely, this is a special time for your family and these shots are included in our session fee. The images created are always so personal and special when dad and your other children want to join in and be part of your maternity shoot. We would recommend that other family members wear clothes in the same colour palette as yourself for the shoot. Talk to us for more ideas, for instance we have taken some beautiful photographs in which partners and boys have been shirtless and wearing jeans.
Cake smash sessions
Cake smash has taken England by storm and is one of our most popular shoots, it is an amazing way to capture images that show your child's personality while they are having fun. A cake smash session is often booked to celebrate a baby’s first birthday, or just for the fun of it at any time. There is nothing cuter than capturing images of babies with icing squidging between fingers and toes and dripping off little noses. We love it when babies who have had newborn shoots with us return to us to celebrate their first Birthday with one of our cake smash sessions. Cake smash can also be enjoyed by older children and adults so if you have another child that wants to join in with the baby, or you just fancy having some photographs of yourselves or older children having fun while getting messy let us know.
What will happen during my cake smash session?
We would have previously discussed the style and colour that you want for your cake smash and this will be set up before you arrive. When you arrive we give your child time to settle in before we start the shoot with a classic portrait session. You can a bring a different outfit for your child to wear for this part of the session if you wish. We then start the cake smash with your child and once the cake is introduced it normally doesn’t take long to see the excitement on their little face and then they dive in with cake going in all directions. Once the shoot is finished (usually about an hour) it is time for a lovely warm bubble bath to get us nice and clean. You will be invited back to our studio in around seven to fourteen days to view your gallery. Our cake smash galleries normally consist of about 30-50 edited images which you can choose from.

How old does my baby have to be?
We would recommend that you don't consider a shoot until your child can sit up unaided and is confident in eating, normally this is from about 10 months of age.
Who supplies the cake?
We have all our cakes made to order by a local supplier so we can offer that special personalisation which includes colour of your choice, baby's name, and a choice of decoration to make it special to you in every way.
What happens if my child has allergies?
We are inclusive and try to cater for all, so if you child has any allergies let us know in plenty of time and wherever possible we will get a cake made at no extra cost to you which is suitable for their needs. For instance if your child has a dairy intolerance or milk allergy we can provide a dairy free cake.
Who supplies the outfit for the cake smash?
We ask that you supply the outfit that your baby will wear for their cake smash because we think it is more personal to you. It also gives you the opportunity to have lots of fun picking out those little cute tutu's and bow ties that the babies look so adorable in.
Portrait shoots are our most versatile sessions. They capture events such as a baby's first tottering steps, the toothless grin of your six year old, those moody teen years, or perhaps to record a visit from a family member you don't see as often as you would like. They can include up to five family members of any age and help you to create special memories or capture precious moments and can be given as beautiful gifts to those special people in your life.

How long will my portrait session take?
Our portrait photography sessions normally take around two hours to shoot. This allows the people being photographed time to relax and get to know us. Once everyone is relaxed and having fun they then begin to enjoy their shoot and we can then capture the beautiful, bespoke family photographs we are known for.
Where would I have my portrait session?
The sessions usually take place at our homely, comfortable studio. The studio allows use of our backdrops, props and equipment to produce high quality, bespoke images. We also love doing location work for our portrait shoots as there is something amazing about being outdoors accessing Liverpool’s amazing scenery for a backdrop. This gives us the opportunity to capture fantastic, bespoke images that will be unique to you and your family. The other benefit of being on location is that we can accommodate larger numbers of family and friends in your photographs. We recently had a family shoot of fifteen people in a beautiful park setting which produced fantastic images. We are lucky to have many varied places on our doorstep, the parks with their wild flowers and lush green trees; the beach with the unique Iron Men and rolling sand dunes; and the lush countryside all within easy reach of our studio. If any of these locations appeal to you, or there is a special place that is meaningful to you, please speak to us and we will try to accommodate you so that you will have photographs you will treasure in the years ahead.
What should we wear for our pictures?
it depends on the setting you choose and the time of year as you could be wrapped up in a fur coat and winter boots or be wearing a pretty summer dress with sandals. Choose something that you feel comfortable in, either with soft toned solid colours that have a timeless feel about them; or the more modern light and airy look of soft pastel colours. Keep away from bright colours or those with loud prints and patterns. If wearing make-up try to go for the soft natural look as this looks better on camera. Children look better in soft light cotton fabrics with a timeless feel; cream and brown palettes always work well. You don't have to buy your children shoes especially for the shoot if you are having a studio session, as little bare feet and toes look fantastic in photographs.
